But where exactly can you go to have these great experiences? Here are some of our favorite spots!

Sheridan Lake

Sheridan Lake is a great spot to experience the water and simply enjoy the most beautiful nature of the Black Hills. The complex spans over 400 acres and offers tons of chances for boating, fishing, Black Hills hiking, and more. You could truly spend the entire day exploring this area, so be sure to set aside plenty of time to enjoy Sheridan Lake to the fullest!

Deerfield Lake

Deerfield Lake is another popular location, especially for families with kids. From kayaking and paddleboarding to canoeing and hiking, you can do just about any outdoor activity here. Kayak fishing is particularly popular here, so you’ll be in good company. Just keep in mind that there are no facilities here, so bring enough food and water for your trip. 

The Pactola Reservoir 

The Pactola Reservoir covers around 800 acres and is the biggest lake in the Black Hills! You can rent kayaks, paddleboards, and pontoons right here at the Pactola Pine Marina, or if you want a bit of a break from the water, you can rent a bike and travel the trails.
