Halloween Events in the Black Hills

Halloween is a time for cooler weather and enjoying fun Autumn events throughout the Black Hills. Whether you are looking for some trick or treating fun for the little ones or perhaps some fun, scary thrills, there are plenty of Black Hills events for the Fall season.

Kids trick or treating at Storybook Island in South Dakota

Safe N Sweet Trick N Treat

Gather the little ones for an afternoon of some safe trick or treating at Safe N Sweet Trick N Treat. All are welcome at this trick or treating event. There will be plenty of candy and goodies here for all the children to enjoy, and as a parent, you’ll feel good that the event is in a safe space. For an added touch, there will be costumed superheroes and princesses known as Bunny’s Heroes passing out candy to the little ones. There is a general admission fee of $3.00. For an extra $2.00, the little ones can ride a special train. There will also be light concession goodies such as hot chocolate and apple cider. This event will be held Saturday, October 26, 2019, at 3:30 pm at Storybook Island 1301 Sheridan Lake Rd. in Rapid City.

Scare in the Square

Get ready to get a little scared! Come on down to Main Street Square and enjoy Halloween. Scare in the Square is a full afternoon of Halloween fun that is held in conjunction with the Rapid City Downtown Business Group’s Downtown Trick-or-Treat. If you want to experience Halloween in Deadwood, this is one of the main events that you don’t want to miss. This event is tons of Halloween fun for everyone, so come fully dressed in your best Halloween gear for lots of fun on the Square. It will be held Saturday, October 26, 2019, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.

Deadweird

If you really want to experience Halloween in the Black Hills, Deadweird is where you need to be. Since this is a two-day event, you may want to set up Black Hills lodging so that you can thoroughly enjoy the event! Get ready for a creepy good time. This event kicks off with the 7th Annual Monster Ball where you’ll get to enjoy a live band with dancing, drinking and tons of adult Halloween fun! Stick around, because the next day, you’ll get to enjoy the annual Costume Contest where more than $10,000 worth of cash and prizes will be given out! This costume contest will also include lots of dancing and partying. Deadweird is a two-day Halloween that you have to attend if you are seeking some adult Halloween fun. What’s best is that this event is free and will be held Friday, October 25, 2019, to Saturday, October 26, 2019. So, come one, come all to Deadweird for two days of Halloween fun.

Chamber’s Crypt Haunted House

What is Halloween without the classic haunted house experience? Make your way down to the Chamber’s Crypt Haunted House to enjoy several days of haunted house experiences leading up to Halloween. This event is recommended for those ages 10 and older. There is a $5.00 admission. Held in the basement of the Sturgis Armory on 701 14th Street, you’ll enjoy getting the crap scared out of you all for the sake of Halloween fun. The haunted house will be held on Monday – Thursday, October 28-31 from 5 pm – 8 pm.

Haunted ATV ride in Deadwood, South Dakota

Haunted ATV Rides

Enjoy a spooky ATV ride where goblins, ghouls, skeletons, and monsters are just dying to meet you! This event is open to everyone and will be at Deadwood ATV Rental at 145 Glendale Dr. Hwy 14A in Lead on Friday, October 19, 2019, to Saturday, October 20, 2019, from 6 pm – 10 pm. It is up to parents to decide if this event is suitable for their children. The ATV ride takes you on a night ride that is sure to get your blood racing with Halloween scares and frights. There is a $10 admission fee plus a can of food. All proceeds from this event benefit local charities such as Canned Food for the Lord’s Cupboard, the Boys and Girls Club of Lead-Deadwood and Twin City Clothing Center.
